Artificial Intelligence and 5G Technologies in future Integrated Energy Systems

I would like to take the opportunity to mention an interesting workshop that took place in last spring on the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology, focusing on the role of Artificial Intelligence and 5G Technologies in future Energy Systems.

The goal of the workshop was to give an overview of the state of the art of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 5G technologies. Ongoing projects were presented and discussed by several experts from different market segments. Energy suppliers, mobile network providers, researchers and representatives of the federal ministry of transport, innovation and technology came together to look for future potentials of AI and 5G technologies in Austrian markets.

The Software Competence Center Hagenberg (SCCH), as a leading research institute in the area of Artificial Intelligence in Austria, participated in this workshop (represented by Georgios Chasparis and Mario Pichler) with an overview presentation of methodologies currently employed for control of energy/electricity in residential buildings and demand-response mechanisms.
